Healing Yourself: New Approaches & Mental Wellness

Victims of an offence often become victims of the justice system and endure traumatic experiences that are products of the system itself (Pearson, 2007 ). This phenomenon has been found to affect victims, families, friends, communities, carers and aggressors (Palacio, 2001 ). And now the manipulative tactics psychological abusers use in court to keep control over their victims and exes. It's a basic human right to be treated fairly by the justice system, but unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way. In May this year, A report by Women's Aid found that 24% of survivors of domestic abuse were cross-examined in family court by their abusers and/or in the presence of their abusers. It is a humiliating and appalling tactic by the family court system to punish a parent and expose vulnerabilities to get what they want.

What makes this persona more problematic in a judicial setting is their knack for convincing others of their innocence and likability while making their opponents seem less credible.

Moment for Parents:

One of the greatest traumas imaginable is when parents have to deal with the separation of a child. Mostly by divorce or the state legislature. Producing greater stress than dealing with the relationship-loss of a parent or spouse, a child’s absense is especially traumatic because it is often unexpected; it is also in violation of the "usual" order of things, in which the child is expected to "flock" away from the parent and start college: a profession, area of study or just their own household.

The new nucular American home has moments of fear for parents. And for those that have been through it; you know. The trauma associated with losing a child, whether to violence, disease, state custody or divorce, can certainly lead to devastating physical and mental health issues. In dealing with this loss, it is increasingly important to recognize the impact it can have on health and overall quality of life.[got a promo code? Email Us.
